The full moon on November 5, 2025, is called the Beaver Supermoon and will be the largest and brightest full moon of the year. It reaches its peak illumination at 8:19 a.m. ET, but it will appear largest and most spectacular when it rises in the east just after sunset on the evening of November 5th. 

• What to expect: The moon will appear larger and brighter than a typical full moon because it is both full and at its closest point to Earth (perigee). It may also have a golden or amber hue as it rises, due to Earth’s atmosphere scattering its light.
• Why it’s called the Beaver Moon: The name comes from the time when beavers were busy building their winter dams and when trappers would set out traps for furs before the water froze.
